“My wife and I spent 2 weeks at Westhill 12, and it was without doubt the most relaxing holiday we've ever had! Great apartment, fabulous location (not too close, not too far from the marina) and a lovely pool for us to use. We took advantage of Robs offer to arrange a car from the airport for us, and that too was a winner. No stressful worries about finding the apartment, and a few beers on the plane on the way over proved to be a great start to the holiday! I'm loathe to praise it too much, as we want to keep this little gem to ourselves! But share we must, and I'd recommend Westhill Apartments to anyone!”

“We stayed 2 weeks at Westhill 1 and this was the first time we hadn't booked a package deal so we weren't sure what to expect. Rob's organisation was second to none and we had a fantastic time. We arrived at the airport and the taxi set up by Rob was ready and waiting. We were taken straight to the apartment and we really pleased by the size of it and the facilities. We had 2 children and 1 infant with us and there was plenty of room for them to spread out. The roof top pool wasn't busy at all during our stay and, with the beach very near by, we had plenty of options with regard activities to undertake. The supermarket was about 150m from the apartment so within easy reach. We had a brilliant holiday and have lots great memories to take away with us.”

“We had the most relaxing holiday at Westhill, April 2011. A perfect location in a quiet private apartment block, not a huge holiday complex, with sun all day on the large balcony. We hired a car for the week but only used it for a supermarket stock up, car not necessary! Mogan is a perfect spot, with excellent restaurants, beach, fishing harbour and marina, and Westhill is only a few minutes walk from everything. We would not hesitate to come back for an out of season break with wonderful hot sunshine. This holiday was over and above our expectations!”

“My husband and I fell in love with Puerto de Mogan and also this particular apartment. It has everything you could possibly need and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice relaxing holiday. The pool was an added bonus and an early morning swim is recommended! |Could not find fault with anything and will hopefully be returning in 2011.”

5th September 2010 by Steve and Cath, Blackburn (STAYED IN AUGUST 2010)

“Cath and I stayed in apartment No 5, we really enjoyed our stay. The aprtment block is so convenient for the beach and restaurants, but also for the shops and local bus service. The holiday was completely stress free, no driving, no pressure a really relaxing holiday. The apartment was excellent, and the rooftop pool was a real bonus, allowing the choice between sea or pool. Some days we virtually had the rooftop pool to ourselves.
We took Rob's advice and used the taxi service from the airport, it was great just to follow the taxi driver to the taxi, throw our bags in the back and sit back and relax till we arrived at the apartment.
Just one very slight downside was that the bedroom got quite warm for us during the night, the apartment would benefit from a fan to blow the cool air from the aircon in the lounge/kitchen area down to the bedroom.
We are definately returning to the apartments later this year, and are recommending them to everyone we meet.”

Owner's response: We are very pleased you enjoyed number 5 and your stay with us in Puerto Mogan. We have 5 Westhill apartments available to holiday-makers, three of which have bedroom ceiling fans. We will pass your very pertinent comment onto the owner of number 5 to encourage him to put in ceiling fans into his bedrooms before next summer; it is not necessary in our high season winter months which are October to April. Best wishes Rob and Luisa, in Puerto Mogan

“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Westhill. We were delayed by the volcanic ash cloud and had to stay on for a 2nd week. Once we'd got over the surprise of a forcibly extended holiday, we all agreed that 2 weeks was preferable to 1! Our particular apt had a very well equipped kitchen which made self-catering a doddle. Not all apt's have the same crockery & pans though.
Lovely balconies with wind-out sun shades so that you can sit out at any time without being baked. About a 5 minute walk to well stocked Spar shop with lovely fresh bread. Another 5 minutes gets you to the beach. Very picturesque place. Lots of places to eat out or have a drink while you watch the world go by.

We hired a car and explored the island thoroughly. Roads are quite narrow and very windy but views are terrific. The bus service seems very good and buses seem to go everywhere, even along roads you would think too narrow for them (!) so you can see the island without a car.
Quiet resort and not suitable for those wanting lots of nightlife. We liked it very much.”

“We have just returned from Westhill (20) and had a wonderful stay. These apartments are really well cared for and clean and are only a really short stroll from the beach and the harbour. I cannot think of an age group that would not like staying here. The terrace is so lovely and is quite secluded so you have got plenty of privacy which is normally rare on holiday. I really would recommend them to anyone and we are definately coming back.”

“We recently stayed at Westhill Apartments and had a lovely time. The apartment is well equipped and the location is excellent, a 5 minute stroll to all the marina restaurants and a handy Spar supermarket 2 minutes away. We spent most days at the beach, which was clean and not too busy and the weather was very warm and sunny. We didn't venture up to the pool, however the pool area looked clean and has the sun for most of the day. The apartment has good security and is well maintained inside, the owners were very accommodating and even brought us round a new DVD player as the existing one had broken. We would highly recommend this apartment for a relaxing stay in a lovely resort! Go to Seamussel on the Marina, a beautiful fish restaurant, excellent service and food! And don't miss Cafe de Mogan for amazing ice creams and a lunchtime beer!”

“The Westhill apartment was ideal for us and we really appreciated the facilities, with excellent furnishings and fittings. The kitchen area was well equipped with a good cooker and large fridge/freezer. The selection of crockery, cutlery, pots and pans was huge! The lounge was ideal and I really appreciated the satellite TV and we used the DVD player with movies we brought with us. The private balcony was in use constantly and I watched the sun rise over the mountains at 8:32am precisely. Lots of lovely plants for us to enjoy. It was great in the evening also and we read or played cards and I amused myself on my laptop.

The bedrooms were also great for us with good beds, plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. Great shower with lots of hot water in the bathroom. Little things, like the lighting also added to the pleasant ambience of the apartment. Security was impressive, with door entry system and solid locks throughout - but I don't expect there is much crime in such a small community. The town (or big village) of Puerto de Mogan was a delight and my wife and I found it met all our expectations for a relaxing, quiet holiday, with a complete absence of loud bars or nightclubs. Everything is quite close and within easy walking distance.

We tried several restaurants and found them all to be of a high standard. It could be assumed that the restaurants along the beach front would not be as good as those in the marina area, but not the case. We found quality food at reasonable prices in all parts of the town. The SPAR supermarket was very good, but I found the Hiperdino in the new Shopping Centre to have a better range of products, and is possibly even closer to the Westhill apartments.

Our programme included a ferry trip to Puerto Rico and back; a day trip by service bus to the capital Las Palmas (not to be missed); a walk around the Friday market (much, much larger than I had expected); an attempt to see dolphins and whales (unsuccessful on the day - but we did see a giant sea turtle); swimming off the beach; lounging and swimming upstairs in the apartments' rooftop pool - excellent pool and sunbathing facility; and generally taking in the sites around the marina and shopping areas.

We were also grateful that we took the owner's suggestion of a car from airport to apartment and return. It was a great way to start and finish the holiday, being whisked along in a chauffeured limo at a reasonable cost.

A constructive criticism would be that we could have done with a couple more towels (or be advised to bring our own) and my wife would have liked extra pillows. But these are trivial issues compared with our overall enjoyment of the holiday.

Overall, I would recommend the Westhill Apartments for a relaxing, enjoyable, stress-free experience.

“This is our 5th visit to P De Mogan and our 3rd to Westhill Apts. Why do we keep going back? Well ,one reason is the apts are extremely well equipped and the owners offer a much more personal touch than the big tour operators who incidentally, will charge you about £200 more a week for the location. Secondly, the private taxi service they provide to and from the airport is excellent; the driver meets you at the airport and is always on time. I disagree with the last reviewer about the location as if you book a harbourside apt they cost a lot more and you have the noise of all the restaurants, and other tourists gawping at you as you eat or go about your business. The location is only ten mins from beach and a couple of minutes to shops and bus stn for other destinations to visit. Yes! Puerto de Mogan is more expensive than the bucket and spade resorts of Puerto Rico and P del Ingles but is easily one of the most stylish resorts on the island and usually has the best weather too. In the credit crunch Westhill apts are excellent value for money and unlike some apts have full kitchen facilities and a lovely patio dining area so you can alternate with cooking at home to save some euros for the more expensive harbourside restaurants. The apt has mats and parasol so you can also save on the beach deckchairs. There are also a cool box, sandwich boxes to prepare packed lunches which again saves you money. The roofside pool is safe, clean and quiet and also free! All in all P De Mogan is a great location for anyone who wants a more up market, quiet family or couples location. The beach has lifeguard duty, pedaloes and is safe for kids. The glass bottom boat runs to P Rico and back regulary and for a cheaper night out P Rico is ok for a visit. Another tip for saving euros is to eat or drink away from the harbourside area as these are top rate prime locations with prices to match. Alfredo and Stefanie who run the Waypoint bar on the beach front are very friendly and will save you your favourite table each night and their prices are a good 5 euros cheaper than other bars. We have stayed at other apts on the island but Westhill cannot be beaten for personal friendly service and great value for money. Incidentally, we met another english couple who had paid exactly the same as us for only a 2 bed apt with no pool whereas our apt was for four! Highly recommended!”

“We stayed at the Westhill appartments in October 2009. The appartment was clean and spacious, but 'luxury' it wasn't! There was no mention of the very busy road (the main road in and out of Puerto de Mogan) which provided traffic noise constantly. The beds and furnishings in the appartment were not very comfortable, making a good night's sleep difficult to find. It was relatively well equipped for a self catering stay, lots of pots, pans, crockery, washing machine etc, but you should take some towels with you as only one set per person is provided for the week. On the positive side, the pool area on the roof is clean and quiet, plenty of sun loungers, and gets the sun from morning to early evening. Puerto de Mogan itself is a beautiful little town, the harbour area is a delight, with lots of good restaurants (these can be quite pricey though) and pretty streets and buildings - easy to see why they call it 'little venice'. It is not a place to stay if you are looking for evening entertainment, there is very little on offer, sometimes the occasional singer in a bar, the appartment could benefit from some satellite channels other than news as there is not a lot to do in the evenings, but if you are looking for a quiet holiday, definately the place to get away from it all and catch up on your reading!”

“We really enjoyed our holiday the apartments were very well equipped and in an excellent location, although we did feel that one of the apartments was a bit crowded with furniture particularly if 4 people were sharing. Having said that we are certainly thinking about returning next year. Puerto Mogan and the Westhill Apartments are definately highly recommended.”

“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at these very private apartments. Our apartment was clean and well presented with excellent facilities. The only thing I would suggest as an improvment to the apartment would be fans in the bedrooms as these become extremley hot at night, even with all doors and windows open. The pool was just the right depth, clean and warm and facilities around the pool were excellent. The town centre and supermarkets were very close and an easy walk. All in all I would recommend these apartments for everyone. Thank you for a lovely holiday.”

29th August 2009 by Gill - Southampton (STAYED IN AUGUST 2009)

“We had a wonderful stay in these apartments with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The pool is cleaned regularly and there were sunbeds and a few umbrellas. The beach and harbour are only a short walk away and there are 2 supermarkets within a 5 minute walk. You are surrounded by mountains with always something to look at. All in all a very enjoyable place to stay, we will be back.”
