About us
Lanzarote Retreats.com is a family run business which has been growing fast since summer 2007. Lanzarote Retreats is the creation of Tila and Michelle Braddock who wanted to offer a rural type accommodation mainly in and around Arrieta in the North of the Island where they live and love.

Arrieta is a traditional Lanzarote fishing village, a hidden jewel on the island, mainly un-discovered by tourists. It boasts wonderful sea front restaurants, quaint historic buildings and has a great beach for families, with a beach bar, play park and it is often great for body boarding and surfing.

They strive to offer you a personal service when booking and during your holiday in Lanzarote, as Tila and Michelle live at Finca de Arrieta they are always at hand for any information or help during your stay. Tila and Michelle are helped by Sarah who is based in their Costa Teguise office.

What we love about our business
Tila and Michelle have lived on Lanzarote for over 20 years and have bought up their 4 children here and been involved in Island life. The Lonely Planet guide book for the Canary Islands (4th Edition page 133 and 139) interviewed Tila and Michelle regarding Lanzarote and they feature along with Finca De Arrieta in the "Local Voices"section. They clearly love the island and therefore sharing it with those visiting the island through their holiday rental business.

Holiday reviews of Eco Twin Yurt

Eco Twin Yurt scored 4.7 out of 5 from 3 reviews...

19th November 2009 by Mothergoose (STAYED IN JUNE 2009)

“Eco Twin Yurt. Hello there, a short and sweet review about the eco twin yurt retreat... An impossible task, for me, i'm afraid ! It was quite simply " THE HOLIDAY OF A LIFETIME" . A very last minute decision, we decided to break from the routine and go find ourselves some sun, some fun, and something a little more wholesome than whats on offer in our ever increasing synthetic and disposable world. A few days on google, and hey presto.... Lanzerote Retreats!!!

I must firstly say that having contacted a few different agencies, i was a little disappointed with the indifference of the responses that i received. And then, the phone rang.... It was Michelle, from Lanzerote Retreats, and in a few short minutes, I already knew that I was in good hands. Her sincerity was abundant, and her desire to help me make the right choice for our family, even more so.

Next, our arrival! Tila met us at the airport, and as I was travelling without Peter in the beginning, this was a great help.. Very obviously used to the family routine, Tila had us loaded up, strapped in and en route to paradise in minutes.

We drove into the Finca, and parked up outside our Eco Yurt, Wow! There was Michelle, organising the finer details in the outside kitchen, a big grin and a warm hug to welcome us. Our Yurt was amazing, beautifully decorated, fresh and inviting. It was huge really. Myself and the three children all, fit, slept, played and relaxed in it very comfortably. With the top off in the evening, you knew you were getting a really wholesome sleep. And then, timed beautifuuly with Peter's arrival, our mini yurt extension was complete. The children moved out, and Peter moved in. They loved their own space, a little cozy clubhouse, where they spent many an evening inventing new games. And of course, we loved our own space too 'coz theres something very sexy about snuggling up with your man under a mosquito net!!!

By day, well, you've seen the pics on the website, I'm sure. Yes, it really is that beautiful. Even more so in fact, because what the camera can't capture is the warmth of the sun, the welcome of the cool water in the crispy blue pool, the buzzing of life in the bushes, the hypnotic gentle whirling of the wind turbine, the smell of the tomatoes ripening in the sun, the 'poc poc poc' of the chickens promising warm fresh eggs for our late breakfast, the sunwarmed shower in stony surrounds, the frequent visits of the inquisitive lizzards, begging for a chase, the donkey that dispells the myth about the early rising cockerel, the smiling children, wrapped loosely in sarongs, resting lazily in the shade in of the daybed, the salads for tea, complimented by the few fresh incredients that 'we picked oursleves', the constant attention from both Tila and Michelle, gifts of skipping ropes, books, lego, toys and local wine, anything and everything just to make our stay that little bit better. I could go on and on, but I'd better leave some of the magic for you to discover for yourselves.

By night, the children slept soundly, and we got busy with the giggles and the wine, and began remembering just what it felt like to have fun together! And again, what the camera can't capture is the moonlight bouncing, skinny dipping, the lovin' under a blanket of stars and another wholesome fresh nights sleep.

As a family, we did yoga, massage, snorkelling, windsufing, surfing, fresh market visits, and trips to some of the worlds most awe-inspiring art and architecture, thank you Manrique. The Yurt was in a superb location, far enough away from the throngs of tourists and the hustle and bustle of commercialism, and yet close enough to hop into the car a discover some new beach or tourist attraction, none of which were really too far away, another plus for the family holiday.

And finally, on the ECO part of the whole holiday, it really was a wonderful opportunity to see the 'Green' way of life in action. Tila never missed an opportunity to educate both myself and more importantly the children on the how the whole system works. Everything from the hens foodscraps, to the potato picking, the egg collecting, to the paperless toilets, from the solar collectors, to the turbines, and the Battery room! They have a very serious commitment to the environment and it was a pleasure to see the wonder in my childrens eyes as we shared in the excitement, and discovered that the world doesn't end at Tesco!

Suffice it to say, that all in all, Fun was had, Boobs got tan, Friendships were forged, and Resolutions were made. And maybe, just maybe, the world will be a better place because our children will have a better understanding of the needs for environmental change.

Michelle and Tila, Thank you both so very very much for giving us an experience that we will never forget. You were nothing short of an inspiration to those of us who are afraid to take the leap, so once again, Thank you for sharing it with us, and we wish you every success in the future, xxx”

15th November 2009 by Jess (STAYED IN OCTOBER 2009)

“Eco Twin Yurt - We are just back from our 10 wonderful days staying in the twin yurt with our 2 girls, and are having to keep pinching ourselves to check that it was all real! We had such a fantastic holiday, all that we had hoped for with bells on!
Tila and Michelle, it was really lovely to meet you and hang out with your family and friends, thankyou for welcoming us and for all the holiday extras.”

23rd October 2009 by Steve (STAYED IN AUGUST 2009)

“Eco Twin Yurt, We stayed for two weeks in the Twin Yurt in August and had a wonderful time. Our two girls (5 and 10) loved Molly the donkey, the chickens and the pool. They also made friends with other children staying at the Finca. We love Lanzarote and the Finca and fully intend to return. Many thanks to Tilla and Michelle for making our holiday so memorable.”
