Mariposa Blanca is nestled in its own grounds of Spanish oak. 10 minutes from Lake Iznajar it is ideally located for guests seeking tranquillity and relaxation and perfectly situated to explore all that Andalucia has to offer in terms of culture, cuisine, nature tours, and entertainment.

The castias are beautifully restored and renovated to a high standard, offering guests spacious rooms, beautifully tiled bathrooms and kitchens equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday.

Outside are several sun and shady terraces, which all have tables, chairs, sun loungers and parasols. There are also BBQ areas and a beautiful pool.

The poolside casita has 1 twin bedroom and 1 double bedroom, all bed linen is provided. There is a spacious bathroom with large walk in shower, two wash basins and all bathroom towels and hairdryer are provided.

There is a traditional Andalucian kitchen, which is equipped to modern standard with, oven, hob, fridge with freezer compartment, toaster, microwave, cutlery, crockery and cookware. There is also a cool box for you to take on picnics or days out. Off of the kitchen is the dining area, the lounge has a three seater sofa, an armchair, coffeee table, TV, DVD, CD player and bookshelf with a selection of novels.

The 1 bedroom casita has a double bed and a two seater sofa bed in the lounge. There is a beautifully tiled bathroom with full walk in shower. The lounge area has a 2 seater sofa bed, armchair, coffee table, TV, DVD, CD player and is open plan onto the kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with the same as the poolside castia and also has a breakfast bar with bar stools.

Outside are many shady and sunny terrraces equiped with, tables, chairs, parasols and BBQ's and of course a pool. The pool is one depth 1.4m and has wide steps which span the width of the pool for non swimmers to sit on to cool off.

Each kitchen has a certain amount of essential ingredients for cooking such as oil, pepper, salt, sugar etc. The welcome packs provided are tailored to your time of arrival but always include, tea, coffee, water, juice, milk, bread, butter and eggs.

Holiday rental prices

Prices for both casitas per week in Sterling, includes bed linen, towels, poolside towels, bath robes and a welcome pack on arrival. Welcome pack includes, tea, coffee, sugar, milk, water, juice, bread, butter, and either breakfast or lunch items depending on your time of arrival.

Price can be given for casitas booked individually, sleeping 2, 3 or 4.

A 25% deposit is required on booking, balance due 8 weeks prior to arrival date. £100 fully refundable security deposit against breakages and damages

Entertainment and Activities:

Fishing is available on lake Iznajar. Skiing in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Ski resorts is only 1 hour and 40 minutes drive and caters for all levels. Horse riding is available in Salinas, which is a 10 minute drive from Mariposa Blanca. Walking, there are numerous mapped walks through-out the very picturesque Subbetica National park to suit amblers through to hikers. Bird watching tours are available in the Granada and surrounding area. Golf, there are many courses in the region our closest being Antequera approximately 30 minutes drive from us. If you are particularly interested in any of the above activities, please tell us when booking and we will do our best to assist you with any arrangements.

About us
We decided to move to Spain because we wanted our daughter to have a real childhood. We wanted her to be able to play outside with her friends and know she is safe. We are very lucky that we have caring and helpful neighbours, who also keep an eye out for her, even give her lift on her way home from school. She also gets to have great summers with guaranteed sunshine.

What we love about our property
We decided on this area of Spain to live because it is equal distance from two airports (Malaga/Granada), not the most romantic of reasons but pratical. However, when we got our first view of Lake Iznajar we knew it was the place for us. We are also ideally located when you do feel like having a day out.

Mostly we love the peace and quite of our location, we think it is probably the best nights sleep you can get anywhere in the world. It is hard to believe that all the bars and restaurants of Iznajar are only 10 minutes away.

We also love to be able to walk out onto the patio and into the olive groves, no traffic, just hares, birds and rabbits.

It has taken 2 and a half years to renovate what was casa Rubita (the previous owners name) into casa Mariposa Blanca and it is worth every grey hair it took.
