The main attraction at Famara has to be the beach, whilst not suitable for swimming; it is a surfer’s paradise. The working village of La Caleta de Famara is found at one end of the beach, this is predominately a fishing village that boasts some great tapas bars and restaurants to relax in. Famara cliffs dominate the other end of the beach and are some 450m high.
Being on the longest natural stretch of sandy beach in Lanzarote, Famara is a haven for sun seekers and water sports enthusiasts alike. Schools and instruction for surfing and kiteboarding available locally and the nearby fishing village of La Caleta is well worth a visit for traditional Canarian food.
Spectacular short walks and all day hiking accessible from the Risco behind Famara as well as 4x4 safaris, bicycle, quad and motorcross hire.
Historic old capital Teguise and wine growing region of La Geria only 10 minutes drive away.

“The studio is beautiful - top of the hill, really private. A great location with mountains just behind for walks and sea views below. The owner, Rachel, is on hand next door if you need help with anything, and happily lent us maps and books to make the most of our stay on the island. We really enjoyed our week away here!”

“I stayed here June 2010 and it was fantastic. The studio apartment was exactly what I wanted - small, simple and well away from the touristy areas. It had everything I needed, including a private patio area where I could have a beer and watch the sun set. I'll definitely stay here again. Famara beach is great if you want to get away from it all. It's so peaceful. The only sound at night is the waves in the distance. Didn't want to leave!”

“This studio is spacious and well equipped, a quick walk to Famara beach and backing right on to the Risco mountains. It is a perfect base for a spot of fishing, a quick tide assisted swim (you can't turn round and swim back!) and fabulous walking accross the Risco to Teguise. The owners are very friendly and helpful, giving up the Island secrets. It was nice to see so few other tourists and sample the real Lanzarote. We couldn't have wished for a better holiday.”
