Featured in The Times "20 best seaside villas in Europe" and The Guardian in 2010. This unique Canarian fisherman's cottage is right on the seafront in Arrieta where there is a golden sand beach within 1 minutes walk. There are a number of local and high class ocean front restaurants, all within the close vicinity to the cottage, offering a variety of excellent fresh fish and tapas. This is a truely wonderful place to unwind enjoy some sunshine and relax.

The Eco Cottage is run on solar power and is a fantastic example of sustainable living, with 4 solar panels making great use of the year round sunshine.

This quaint cottage has been restored to a very high standard and boasts features such as wooden floors, a traditional courtyard and a Canarian balcony.The Cottage is one of the original buildings in Arrieta village and is set next to the slipway where local fishermen still put their colourful painted wooden boats in the water.

The semi detached cottage has been given a fishing theme and there is even a fishing rod for those of you who would like to catch your own fish for supper!

The spacious traditional courtyard patio is ideal for an al fresco candle lit meal and has a barbeque and table and chairs. Inside the fitted kitchen is fully equipped with fridge freezer, toaster, gas oven and hob and has a wooden dining table and chairs. Its cozy living room is on the sea side of the property and has wonderful panoramic views. This room has a sofa bed and an i-pod docking station. The outdoor shower is next to the ground floor toilet room where the battery and power system is stored.

The courtyard leads to the external wood stair case up to the first floor. This floor has been designed to be open planned except for the separate toilet room. The views are spectacular from here and the master suite is light, airy and spacious. This luxury room is set with a comfy 180 Large king size bed and wood surround bath both with sea views, there is also a Sofa/single bed.

We provide a basic welcome pack on arrival that includes a bottle of Lanzarote wine, water, crisps, milk, tea and coffee.

Owner's Tips

Arrieta boasts one of the best family beaches on the island La Garita, which just a few minutes walk from the cottage. It has an excellent tapas beach bar and restaurant, toilets and shower facilities and from its black sands you can see the panoramic volcanic mountains up to Haria village.

From Arrieta, it is easy to explore the countryside, from walking up volcanoes, discovering caves to seeing some spectacular views to La Graciosa. Arrieta is a great base from which to explore the island, particularly the north, with Jameos del Agua Cave, Cactus Garden, Mirador del Rio View of Graciosa Island, Haria village and the Green Caves being only 10 minutes drive away.

In Haria you will find a number of cosy restaurants, and Tapas Bars, each Saturday you can experience the artisan market which is well worth a visit.

From Haria you can drive the mountain route to the historic village of Teguise, where you can take a stroll through the meandering lanes and watch local artists at work or visit the Sunday Market, all this is only a 20 minute drive away.

About us
Lanzarote Retreats.com is a family run business which has been growing fast since summer 2007. Lanzarote Retreats is the creation of Tila and Michelle Braddock who wanted to offer a rural type accommodation mainly in and around Arrieta in the North of the Island where they live and love.

Arrieta is a traditional Lanzarote fishing village, a hidden jewel on the island, mainly un-discovered by tourists. It boasts wonderful sea front restaurants, quaint historic buildings and has a great beach for families, with a beach bar, play park and it is often great for body boarding and surfing.

They strive to offer you a personal service when booking and during your holiday in Lanzarote, as Tila and Michelle live at Finca de Arrieta they are always at hand for any information or help during your stay. Tila and Michelle are helped by Sarah who is based in their Costa Teguise office.

Tila and Michelle have lived on Lanzarote for over 20 years and have bought up their 4 children here and been involved in Island life. The Lonely Planet guide book for the Canary Islands (4th Edition page 133 and 139) interviewed Tila and Michelle regarding Lanzarote and they feature along with Finca De Arrieta in the "Local Voices"section. They clearly love the island and therefore sharing it with those visiting the island through their holiday rental business.
