There are numerous small roads and pathways leading to delightful spots within the municipality, such as the Los Reales de Genalguacil and the areas of the rivers Almáchar and Genal. The countryside surrounding the village is quite beautiful and ecologically important, and the best way to get to know it is to walk. Of particular interest to nature lovers is the Los Reales de Sierra Bermeja area, where one can see the rare pinsapo trees - a species of Mediterranean pine – and animals and birds like the mountain deer and the various species of hawks and eagles. Interesting too is the area known as Los Morterestes, situated in the middle of a pinsapo woods where the first settlers here mined gold.
Since 1994, an "arte biennale" has been taking place in Genalguacil every two years during the first fortnight in August. It attracts artists from all over Spain and Europe to the village for two weeks of painting, sculpting and the creative exchange of ideas. Their accommodation is paid for by the Town hall as are all of their materials. A catalogue is also published and the resulting works of art become the property of the town itself. All aspects of art are included in the programme, with sculptures in wood, metal and ceramics, and murals and photography forming part of what becomes the town’s permanent collection. Many of the works are out in the open while others are housed in Town Hall property until work on the old oil press, to become the new municipal museum, has been finished. This makes Genalguacil an absolutely fascinating and unique place to wander around and gives the visitor hours of pleasure spotting all the various works of art.
About us
My name is Ruth Polak and I live with my family near to the village of Casares in the mountains of Andalucia. We bought a run down Finca of 30,000 sq m. of land in 1992 and my husband, being a builder, renovated and built the house up.
I began renting an apartment on our Finca and our house in the village of Casares about 6 years ago and since then I have taken on other peoples villas and apartments to rent for them.
I thoroughly enjoy helping people to organize their holidays and using my knowledge of the area to help them to get the most out of their holiday on the Costa del Sol. I also work closely with my owners to ensure that their properties offer holiday makers good quality accommodation at reasonable prices.
What we love about our property
I hand pick all of the properties I represent to ensure that they offer good quality and value for money and hope that you have a very enjoyable holiday on the Costa del Sol.
Year we bought the property: 1992
