About 15 minutes drive from Arrecife airport, Puerto del Carmen offers 5km of broad, pale sandy beaches as well as a wide variety of places to eat and drink and it remains a popular destination for holidaymakers from far and wide. Made up of a ‘new’ and ‘old’ town, Puerto del Carmen has no high-rise structures and almost all buildings are white and unpretentious.
For nightlife in Puerto del Carmen you can watch the locals taking part in a few games of boules in the old town, which seems to be a nightly occurrence. The old town also offers a great variety of restaurants serving fresh fish, while if you head off into the holiday area you'll find everything from traditional English sports bars to Chinese restaurants.
Puerto del Carmen is a combination of traditional and modern. Originally a quaint fishing harbour and village, the town has developed into a very attractive modern resort along the south facing bays of the Los Fariones, Pocillos and Matagorda beaches. As with the rest of Lanzarote, great care has been taken in planning the architecture and landscape. The result is a beautiful promenade stretching the length of the three bays lined with palm trees and the colourful tropical flowers are a main feature.
The beautiful sandy beaches and clear blue water are ideal for sunbathing and swimming all year round. Puerto del Carmen is highly recommended as safe and suitable for young and old alike. The protected southerly situation shelters it from the prevailing winds on the North and East side of the island. The old fishing village has retained the harbour atmosphere and is an excellent place to sample the local fish restaurants and local shops which are only a short distance from all our properties. When the sun goes down, the beachfront livens up and there is a great selection of good quality restaurants, bars and discos later on.

“Just come back from Costa Luz and really can't be critical about the location, the apartments, the people working there or luckily the weather! It really is on the beach and wandering around the resort there are so few place so close. The cleaning team are amazing I wish I had them at home.
It was our first time in Lanzarote so the receptionist got grilled with all our questions haha and was really helpful gave us lots of info and booked us on a few trips to see the island which were great value for money and very entertaining. Next time we MUST take our driving licences though cos it's the best value way to get out and about and see places - there are lots and the public buses are great for seeing other towns but not so great to explore off the beaten track.
One good thing I loved about the company is that you can book way in advance if you want, and don't have to wait for brochures to come out like the other companies, so we're already booked up again for August 2011. They're so helpful and informative in the office too. Altogether a lovely holiday experience!”

“arrived may 1910 one bed apt very tired metal shutter over patio door advising to be pulled down and locked when out didnt fell very safe requested other accomadation said none available which was hard to beleive didnt look busy at all did not stay found better apartment at lago verede old town owners here very helpfull .very expencive mistake”
Owner's response: The electric shutters which cover the whole french windows is, naturally, supposed to make you feel safe, not unsafe?! I don't really understand how good security makes you feel unsafe. I have double checked and I can confirm that we were full on these dates, which is why we couldn't move you....we are a family business who have 75% repeat and recommended clientele and we are not in the habit of lying to our guests. We usually are full because these apartments are very popular.

“I stayed in Costa Luz on a friend's recommendation. It's so peaceful but lots of shops and restaurants and bars are very close by. A decently stocked supermarket right opposite was really handy too, so we didn't have miles to walk carrying heavy things. My husband has difficulty walking so the fact that the complex and surrounding area was flat was a great help. The apartments were spacious, well-equipped and spotlessly clean - the perfect location. We stayed for just a week this time but have booked to stay for four weeks next November, now we've tried it, and it passed with flying colours!”

“Thought I'd write about this lovely place before my tan has faded and the holiday is still fresh in my memory! My husband couldn't get time off work so I stayed in Costa Luz 1 bedroom apartment with a girlfriend. Everything about it was great and we had such a good time. The apartments were much more spacious than I imagined and had everything we could possibly need. The maid service was excellent, the receptionist extremely helpful and friendly, and the complex as a whole exceeded our expectations. We met some lovely people chatting by the pool and a lot said it was their favourite place to stay in Lanzarote, and we agreed. Next time I'm going back with my whole family.”
