Within a fifteen-minute drive it's possible to visit many of the Cesar Manrique attractions such as, Jameos del Agua, Cuevos de los verde, Mirador del Rio and the Cactus Garden.
Also close by in Arrieta is the beautiful, safe, sandy beach of La Garita. And, all along this coast are fabulous fish restaurants, cute little bars and pretty isolated coves.
About us
Brendan and Terrie Finucane have been providing holidays for discerning travellers in Lanzarote for thirty years since it was a little-known dot on the location landscape. They have lived in Haria since 1995 where they moved because of the wonderful environment for bringing up children and the relaxed way of life and the friendly Canarian people.
Their background is design, advertising and architecture and many of their returning clients are from similar creative backgrounds, photography, writing, painting, who flourish in the peace and quietness of north Lanzarote in the 'special' oasis of this exquisite 250-year-old Canarian villa.
Brendan, Terrie and their son, Theo, continue to enjoy the benefits of the Canarian lifestyle and derive great pleasure from the evident pleasure each client gets from a serene week or two in the simple paradise that is Lanzarote.
What we love about our property
The property has a welcoming force and calmness which hits you immediately you walk through the doors. It has a kind of ´natural´ Feng Shui which must be inherent in the Canarian phsyche. Once within its walls, the worries and all external influences fall away.
It is extremely light, airy and friendly and despite its size, 400 sq. mtrs., with 4 metre-high ceilings, retains a cosiness unusual in such a large and visually imposing villa.
We also love its location, sitting on the edge of the prettiest village in the Canaries, with rolling hills behind, yet only a couple of minute´s walk to the main square, church and shops. The neighbours could not be more friendly and they are all aware of the history of the villa and are happy to see the love and care being returned to it.
Year we bought the property: 1995

“The look and feel of Villa Castia was just fabulous Very clean, very welcoming. The bed was comfortable and the private entrance and terrace area was great. The pool is lovely and deep and on a hot day this would be appreciated even more. The place has a good vibe and quiet for completely chilling out which is what we did this December 2012 for a week. The weather was mixed but on the cloudy days it gave us the opportunity to really explore all of the Island. The location of the villa is perfect as you can walk to the village square in 5 mins and go walking in the area in the hills but a car is a must to visit other areas and the east coast. Several places to eat nearby and fresh bread and basics are available from the shop three houses up the road. Lovely views. Brendan and Terrie were fabulous hosts and were a great source of local info.
We would not hesitate to recommend Villa Casita Carmelo as a great place to unwind and re-charge. Forget Playa Blanca etc unless you want to feel you are in the Costas or in England and only long for bacon and eggs and larger For a real taste of Lazarote and the friendliness of the people and the beautiful landscapes head North for Haria.”
Owner's response: Thank you dear folk, you were wonderful guests, we're so pleased you found Casita Carmelo was as advertised (and maybe a bit better!), we very much look forward to your smiling, friendly faces next year! Feliz navida y happy new year, xx

“We had a very enjoyable 7 days at Villa Casita. Haria is no doubt a good location for other parts of the Island.
We found our stay very peaceful and all amenities close buy. Excellent bread straight from the oven! which you can buy a few yards from the Villa made it a real treat for breakfast.
A great opportunity if you want to get through a 500 page book without being disturbed.
Lots of places to eat but we also enjoyed cooking in the Villa too.
We recommend hiring a car at the airport.”

“We strongly commend this property because of its calm feeling, the attention to detail and the lovely use of colour inside and out. The village of Haria is good to wander in and there is good walking and interesting surrounding attractions. The hosts, Brendan and Terrie, were helpful, informative, friendly and relaxed.
Our experience and reading the positive reviews here, in the guest book and elsewhere suggest that it is most suitable for adult couples who want a quiet holiday with interesting places to visit. The Manrique sites that we visited were all interesting and enjoyable.”

“We have just spent the most fantastic week at Villa Casita Carmelo. This beautiful old building has been lovingly restored to create the perfect environment for rest and relaxation. We came away frazzled leaving a 7 year old and 3 year old twins with grandparents and have returned feeling rejuvinated! It has everything you need, a wonderful old traditional stone house, gorgeous views, a comfortable bed, light and space, privacy, it is immaculately clean and blissfully quiet. It felt like home instantly! We have been lucky enough to stay in many beautiful places but this is by far our favourite. There are plenty of places to eat within a short walk, hills to climb or loungers to relax on and read. Fresh bread sold just a minute away and all the fabulous offerings that Cesar Manrique has created within a short drive. Brendan and Terrie live locally and are perfect hosts, friendly and on hand if you need anything but were very respectful of our privacy. We honestly cannot recommend this place highly enough!”
Owner's response: A break from young children is no easy matter, we know, we have four! You were very brave and your kids are very lucky to have such easy-going caring parents, till the next time? B&T xx
