Mojácar is divided into two areas; firstly the picturesque hilltop town of Mojácar Pueblo, with it's unique Moorish feel, narrow streets and whitewashed properties. Then there is Mojácar Playa - a modern tourist, resort running along the coast.
Mojácar Playa has become a popular holiday destination over the past few years and it is well serviced for visitors. The beaches stretch for miles, they are safe and clean and all major watersports are available to try out. Away from the water, Mojácar Playa has a great selection of restaurants. If you've hired a car, Mini Hollywood and the Waterpark are only a short distance away.
Mojacar holiday accommodation is readily available to suit all budgets and party sizes. Holiday rentals in Mojacar have increased over the years as more and more visitors are looking for the ideal Mojacar rental. Most Mojacar properties are available all year round and some offer long lets during winter months.
Located near the small Spanish towns of Bedar, Los Gallardos and Turre, the property is ideally situated between the coastal resort of Mojacar beach, with its laid back beach bars and sophisticated restaurants, and the more traditional inland towns of Turre, Bedar and Los Gallardos with their traditional tapas bars and Spanish restaurants, which are within a few minutes' drive of Casa en la Colina. In addition, the property is also situated within 3 minutes walking distance to the village bar/restaurant with swimming pool which serves an a-la-carte menu, including fresh fish and steaks, alongwith daytime snacks.
There are numerous supermarkets, banks and doctors in the area. Form E111 or the European Health Insurance card, available at post offices in the UK, although not acceptable in some places, is very useful in this area to obtain free medical assistance.
Mojacar is appx. 10 minutes drive from the villa and is the largest and most popular tourist centre of this south eastern corner of Spain. The present day town ('pueblo') has developed from one of the most ancient communities in the whole of Spain with a history which stretches back more than 4,000 years. The area was once dominated by the Moors and to this day, the old town of Mojacar resembles a Moroccan village more than an international tourist resort. A visit to Mojacar is well worthwhile with its twisting labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets, old arches and domed houses stacked one above the other. The Mojacar pueblo (old town) has magnificent panoramic views overlooking the mountains, valley & sea and is filled with superb restaurants, small privately owned boutiques, charming squares and intimate bars. Only 2km away, down at the seafront of 'Mojacar Playa', you are in another world of international restaurants and bars offering a wide variety of cuisine. The result is a lively resort which offers plenty of activities for the foreign holidaymaker, whilst retaining its traditional Spanish charm and character.
There are many outdoor markets held in the surrounding villages during the week, a list of these and other facilities are available at the villa
Sports - Golf, horse riding, pony trekking, green bowling and go - karting are all available in the immediate area. On the 17 kms of beaches, which have been awarded 3 blue Europan flags for cleanliness, one will find wind surfing, water ski-ing, sea caneoing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, scuba diving, jet skis and, of course, the obligatory banana ride! There is also an Aqua Park well worth a trip for those with children.
Golf - there are 6 golf courses, all within driving distance. The closest 2 courses are within an 8-10 minute drive: Cortijo Grande, Turre - a 9 hole course with a 112 slope, designed by Paul Jay Polansky. This course is close to the tourist area of Mojacar with hill and mountain scenery, set amongst orange groves. The second course is Marina Golf on the Marina de la Torre urbanization, designed by Ramon Espinosa. The round includes both sea and mountain. Facilities include a bar, restaurant, shopping and professional tuition.
Approx. 45 minutes inland, near the village of Tabernas, you can visit Europe's only desert region. Visit 'Mini Hollywood' where numerous Italian and American films were shot including 'A Fistful of Dollars' (Clint Eastwood) and part of the epic Peter O'Toole movie 'Lawrence of Arabia'.
For those who don't mind travelling for apx 2 hours, why not take a complete day out, or even an overnight stay, and visit the magnificent Alhambra, situated in Granada. The Alhambra was a Palace, citadel, fortress and home of the Nasrid sultants, high governmnt officials, servants of the court and elite soldiers from the 13th to 15th century.
In summary, this area of Spain is the ideal destination for those of you seeking a peaceful holiday. The major nearby towns provide good amenities and Spanish restaurants and bars, whilst the coastal area of Mojacar Playa has no high rise buildings and boasts a nightlife that would satisfy most.

“We stayed at this lovely villa from 30th May-6th June 2009 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.It is very spacious and very well appointed with many different sunbathing areas as well as plenty of shade if you needed it.The villa is in a very quiet area of Pinar but not isolated..In a word {Perfect}.”

“Our holiday this summer was probably the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation we have had for many years. The villa was extremely comfortable and the views from the different levels were breathtaking. Having the pool was an essential feature, which was where we spent a great deal of our time during the day. The local bar/restaurant in the village was very handy and the owners were particularly hospitable. The local restaurants which we visited did not disappoint, with the Miramar at Bedar, our favourite. We didn't travel too far afield as we wanted a relaxing holiday, however, we did visit a local Water Park and had a day out at Mini Hollywood, which were both good value.
We would definitely consider returning to the villa next summer as we feel that there is a lot more to explore locally and the accommodation was ideal for what we wanted. Thanks once again for a lovely stay.”

“12th to 26th September 2009
Pat & Graham from Northampton
We have been absolutely delighted with our holiday in Casa En La Colina. Set in the peaceful village of El Pinar with mountain and sea views. This spacious villa had all we wanted and was ideally located for a relaxing break, a safe environment and base to tour the real sites of Spain.
The friendliness and service from the owners was faultless. The description of the villa as detailed, delivers every thing it says on the tin.
Our decision to rent was through recommendation. We will definitely be coming back and we highly recommend the villa to others.”

“The villa is extremely comfortable and spacious, with a mix of both shaded and sunny areas to use throughout the day. A good size pool with great views towards the coast and a seemingly regular cooling breeze that picks up about 11.30am! A must during periods of high temperatures. The village is being developed with proposed amenities but if you wish to wandeerthe hills there are numerous walks amongst the hills to try out.
Facilities to shop and loads of restaurants on the coast 15 minutes away.
The Family have been here three times.”
