About the property
This is a beautiful luxury flat in Parque la Asomada, a recently built complex in the historic city of Puerto de la Cruz. The flat is perfect for two people.
The flat is located on the second (top) floor, and there is a lift. It has marble flooring throughout and consists of a living room which is semi-open plan to the kitchen, one bedroom, a bathroom and a balcony. The balcony overlooks lush and tropical residents’ gardens, and the swimming pool. From the balcony, you have views to the sea on one side and Mount Tiede (the highest mountain in Spain) on the other.
The attractive, comfortably furnished living room has two sofas (one of which converts to a double bed if necessary), a dining area, storage units and occasional tables, and has full-width patio doors onto the balcony. It has satellite TV, with 3 English-language channels (CNN, Eurosport and CNBC), a DVD player, and a CD/radio/cassette. There is a selection of CDs, mostly classical and jazz, a few DVDs, and a collection of light reading/holiday novels - feel free to exchange these at Mary’s second-hand English bookshop, details in the Housebook at the flat.
The balcony has a dining table, reclining chairs, and sun umbrellas - often useful, as the balcony gets the sun for so much of the day and evening.
The high quality, good sized kitchen is semi-open plan to the living room. It has a large fridge/freezer, an electric oven, halogen hob, microwave, toaster, electric citrus press, kettle, coffee maker and washing machine, and an extensive range of crockery, cutlery, pots and pans etc.
The bright bedroom also has full-width patio doors onto the balcony. It has two single beds, which convert to a six-feet wide double if you prefer (please specify your preference when booking), 2 chests of drawers, and a dressing table. There is a large walk-in wardrobe off the bedroom, with lighting, shelving and ample hanging space.
There is additional extensive storage in the open plan hall. The flat is also supplied with an iron and ironing board, a hairdryer, and a large portable floor fan with variable settings.
The fully-tiled bathroom has a window, and includes a full-size bath with a shower over it, a wash basin set in a marble-topped vanity unit, a w.c. and a bidet.
There are also sunbeds, with integral sunshades, which fold up and are lightweight enough to take down to the pool. However, there is built-in seating around the pool, and the long cushions from the balcony chairs work very well on them.
Although the flat is in a quiet, fully residential cul-de-sac, the block is horseshoe-shaped, and the side of the development on the opposite side of the gardens is on the road down to the town centre, which is about 20 minutes walk or a 5 minute bus ride away.
On the ground floor on the road side there are three restaurants/bars offering a wide range of cuisine. They also have a good selection of tapas and light meals. Some will also provide meals to take away. There are quite a number of other bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk, many of them very Canarian.
For shopping, the Mini-Market la Asomada is 2 minutes walk up the road and sells practically everything, including fresh-baked bread every day. Adjacent facilities also include a pharmacy, three hairdressers (Nuevas Ondas is English-owned and run), a laundry/dry cleaners, and a medical centre. There are more extensive shopping facilities a 5 minute drive or bus ride away.

A deposit of £100 is required to secure your booking, with the balance of the cost of your holiday being payable no later than 6 weeks before your arrival date.
An additional charge of 60€, for final cleaning and laundry, is payable locally in Puerto to the lady who looks after the apartment. She will also be available to assist you if any problems arise during your visit - her full contact details are in the Housebook at the flat.
About Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife
The north of the Tenerife is very different in character and appearance from the south - it is much more lush and colourful. Puerto de la Cruz is an attractive Spanish town on the north coast, with buildings dating back to the 16th century. Though it is the longest established of all resorts on Tenerife, more modern development has not obliterated its original charm. Much of the area around the old fishing port is full of narrow cobbled streets packed with older and interesting architecture.
For shopping, there is a wide variety of small shops in the town centre, and on most days there is a market set up in the old quay. There are also large modern shopping malls near the town centre and at the southern end of town. Extensive further shopping can be found in the capital, Santa Cruz, 25 minutes away by car, or 40 minutes by bus. Santa Cruz also has numerous museums, and a spectacular new Concert Hall which hosts a wide range of classical, jazz and other events.
For beach lovers, Playa Jardin is a series of 3 linked beaches surrounded by landscaped gardens, with bars and restaurants. These beaches have recently been awarded the Blue Flag accreditation, and have extensive facilities in the way of showers, changing rooms and lavatories. In addition, the Lago Martianez, down on the seafront, is an area of 7 huge freeform swimming pools (one a seawater one), with bars and restaurants within the complex.
Just beyond Playa Jardin is Loro Parque: more varieties of parrot than you could imagine, a zoo, lovely gardens and lots of dolphins who put on an amazing acrobatic show several times a day. It also has the biggest collection of penguins outside Antarctica. There is a golf course, La Rosaleda, on the outskirts of the town.
Owner's Tips...
There are 2 airports in Tenerife. Puerto de la Cruz is about 20 minutes drive from the north airport, Los Rodeos, and about an hour from the south airport, Reina Sofia. There are also bus services from both airports to the town.
If you are not hiring a car, I can arrange for you to be picked up at either airport and taken to the flat.
Various carriers have flights to the north airport from Manchester and Gatwick.
About half the flats in Parque la Asomada are owned and lived in by local residents - there are no tour companies here!
You will find some basic supplies in the flat when you arrive - tea, coffee, milk, water etc - so that you can relax and unpack before you need to head out to the shops.
There's also a Housebook in the flat for visitors to use, giving details of things like local facilities, favourite restaurants, and suggested walking routes to the town centre. There is also a map of the area and copies of the bus timetable, to help you get around; there are frequent buses passing nearby.
All linen and towels are provided, except beach towels - please bring your own.
Departure and arrival times can be flexible, by arrangement.
