This tasteful resort on the sheltered southwest corner of Gran Canaria enjoys a glorious year-round climate and is perfect for those seeking a peaceful sunny holiday. Puerto Mogan is a delightful combination of the original whitewashed fishing village nestling on the hillside which overlooks both the golden sandy beach and marina harbour below.
Nicknamed “Little Venice”, the resort has been carefully designed with a maximum of three levels to maintain its unique ambience. Behind the marina harbour, where yachts from the world over are moored, is a charming network of walkways and canals overhung with colourful tropical flowers and plants.
There is a wide choice of excellent restaurants, cafés and bars in Puerto Mogan, many overlooking either the beach or the harbour, and also a variety of shops, boutiques and a good supermarket.
Activities generally revolve around the water and apart from swimming and sunbathing include diving, fishing and yacht trips. You can take the glass-bottomed ferry to Puerto Rico and Arguineguin, although there is also a good local bus service and taxis are on hand at reasonable rates. There are also two major golf courses within easy reach of Puerto Mogan.
Puerto de Mogan is ideal for those seeking to relax in a low-rise charming spot where swimming, sunbathing, wining and dining are the main activities. It is a quiet resort where nightlife is relatively limited - there are however periodic jazz festivals held just behind the harbour throughout the year.
A small word about our amazing weather. Puerto Mogan, ideally positioned in a sheltered valley, enjoys one of the finest year-round climates in Europe. In the winter months the days are wonderfully sunny with temperatures in the high seventies and early eighties. Yet do not underestimate our great summers - far from being too hot for comfort, whilst the temperatures of course are higher, the heat is dry, not humid and you are cooled by the lovely light sea breezes. The long summer evenings are pleasantly warm and perfect for lazy relaxation on the terrace over a jug of sangria or a couple of bottles of chilled white wine.
Please note that to assist our clients we are delighted to arrange private airport transfers with one of our team of licensed drivers. We can also organise car hire whilst in resort with drop off at the airport on departure if required.

“We recently stayed at Westhill Apartments and had a lovely time. The apartment is well equipped and the location is excellent, a 5 minute stroll to all the marina restaurants and a handy Spar supermarket 2 minutes away. We spent most days at the beach, which was clean and not too busy and the weather was very warm and sunny. We didn't venture up to the pool, however the pool area looked clean and has the sun for most of the day. The apartment has good security and is well maintained inside, the owners were very accommodating and even brought us round a new DVD player as the existing one had broken. We would highly recommend this apartment for a relaxing stay in a lovely resort! Go to Seamussel on the Marina, a beautiful fish restaurant, excellent service and food! And don't miss Cafe de Mogan for amazing ice creams and a lunchtime beer!”

“The Westhill apartment was ideal for us and we really appreciated the facilities, with excellent furnishings and fittings. The kitchen area was well equipped with a good cooker and large fridge/freezer. The selection of crockery, cutlery, pots and pans was huge! The lounge was ideal and I really appreciated the satellite TV and we used the DVD player with movies we brought with us. The private balcony was in use constantly and I watched the sun rise over the mountains at 8:32am precisely. Lots of lovely plants for us to enjoy. It was great in the evening also and we read or played cards and I amused myself on my laptop.
The bedrooms were also great for us with good beds, plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. Great shower with lots of hot water in the bathroom. Little things, like the lighting also added to the pleasant ambience of the apartment. Security was impressive, with door entry system and solid locks throughout - but I don't expect there is much crime in such a small community. The town (or big village) of Puerto de Mogan was a delight and my wife and I found it met all our expectations for a relaxing, quiet holiday, with a complete absence of loud bars or nightclubs. Everything is quite close and within easy walking distance.
We tried several restaurants and found them all to be of a high standard. It could be assumed that the restaurants along the beach front would not be as good as those in the marina area, but not the case. We found quality food at reasonable prices in all parts of the town. The SPAR supermarket was very good, but I found the Hiperdino in the new Shopping Centre to have a better range of products, and is possibly even closer to the Westhill apartments.
Our programme included a ferry trip to Puerto Rico and back; a day trip by service bus to the capital Las Palmas (not to be missed); a walk around the Friday market (much, much larger than I had expected); an attempt to see dolphins and whales (unsuccessful on the day - but we did see a giant sea turtle); swimming off the beach; lounging and swimming upstairs in the apartments' rooftop pool - excellent pool and sunbathing facility; and generally taking in the sites around the marina and shopping areas.
We were also grateful that we took the owner's suggestion of a car from airport to apartment and return. It was a great way to start and finish the holiday, being whisked along in a chauffeured limo at a reasonable cost.
A constructive criticism would be that we could have done with a couple more towels (or be advised to bring our own) and my wife would have liked extra pillows. But these are trivial issues compared with our overall enjoyment of the holiday.
Overall, I would recommend the Westhill Apartments for a relaxing, enjoyable, stress-free experience.

“This is our 5th visit to P De Mogan and our 3rd to Westhill Apts. Why do we keep going back? Well ,one reason is the apts are extremely well equipped and the owners offer a much more personal touch than the big tour operators who incidentally, will charge you about £200 more a week for the location. Secondly, the private taxi service they provide to and from the airport is excellent; the driver meets you at the airport and is always on time. I disagree with the last reviewer about the location as if you book a harbourside apt they cost a lot more and you have the noise of all the restaurants, and other tourists gawping at you as you eat or go about your business. The location is only ten mins from beach and a couple of minutes to shops and bus stn for other destinations to visit. Yes! Puerto de Mogan is more expensive than the bucket and spade resorts of Puerto Rico and P del Ingles but is easily one of the most stylish resorts on the island and usually has the best weather too. In the credit crunch Westhill apts are excellent value for money and unlike some apts have full kitchen facilities and a lovely patio dining area so you can alternate with cooking at home to save some euros for the more expensive harbourside restaurants. The apt has mats and parasol so you can also save on the beach deckchairs. There are also a cool box, sandwich boxes to prepare packed lunches which again saves you money. The roofside pool is safe, clean and quiet and also free! All in all P De Mogan is a great location for anyone who wants a more up market, quiet family or couples location. The beach has lifeguard duty, pedaloes and is safe for kids. The glass bottom boat runs to P Rico and back regulary and for a cheaper night out P Rico is ok for a visit. Another tip for saving euros is to eat or drink away from the harbourside area as these are top rate prime locations with prices to match. Alfredo and Stefanie who run the Waypoint bar on the beach front are very friendly and will save you your favourite table each night and their prices are a good 5 euros cheaper than other bars. We have stayed at other apts on the island but Westhill cannot be beaten for personal friendly service and great value for money. Incidentally, we met another english couple who had paid exactly the same as us for only a 2 bed apt with no pool whereas our apt was for four! Highly recommended!”

“We stayed at the Westhill appartments in October 2009. The appartment was clean and spacious, but 'luxury' it wasn't! There was no mention of the very busy road (the main road in and out of Puerto de Mogan) which provided traffic noise constantly. The beds and furnishings in the appartment were not very comfortable, making a good night's sleep difficult to find. It was relatively well equipped for a self catering stay, lots of pots, pans, crockery, washing machine etc, but you should take some towels with you as only one set per person is provided for the week. On the positive side, the pool area on the roof is clean and quiet, plenty of sun loungers, and gets the sun from morning to early evening. Puerto de Mogan itself is a beautiful little town, the harbour area is a delight, with lots of good restaurants (these can be quite pricey though) and pretty streets and buildings - easy to see why they call it 'little venice'. It is not a place to stay if you are looking for evening entertainment, there is very little on offer, sometimes the occasional singer in a bar, the appartment could benefit from some satellite channels other than news as there is not a lot to do in the evenings, but if you are looking for a quiet holiday, definately the place to get away from it all and catch up on your reading!”
