Beautifully authentic cavehouse based in La Canalosa in the Hondon de las Nieves area of Alicante.
The property is a restored cavehouse with luxuriously comfortable furniture that has been carefully selected to retain character. It is spacious, light and airy. Four bedrooms providing three double beds and one single, a reading lounge, a spacious lounge diner, with separate snug area and log burner. Bathroom with shower, fully fitted kitchen with gas cooker, microwave and fridge freezer. The gardens contain numerous trees - almond, olive, pomegranite, banana and various cacti and shrubs. There are plenty of outdoor seating and dining areas, a traditional BBQ and a gas BBQ according to your preference.
A 10 x 5 metre pool is enclosed by a wall and has a lockable gate complete with sunbeds and gazebos and beautiful views.
The owners and their friendly dogs live in a finca within the grounds of the cavehouse and are available to provide paella or BBQ nights on request (additional charge).
All linen and towels are included (with the exception of pool towels). Parking is available and pets are welcome.

Just a half hour by car from Alicante Airport and 45 minutes from Murcia Airport and you will find yourself in rural Alicante where the local living is made from Grapes, Almonds, Olives and fruit trees. Nestled amongst the Crevillente mountain range which provides a stunning backdrop, the valley is abundant with good walks, relaxing views and friendly locals, not to mention the very good locally produced wine and a bodega in every village.
Alenda Golf course 20 minutes.
Local passtimes include road cycling, mountain biking, birdwatching and walking.
There are ample restaurants, bars, banks and markets at the local villages just 5 minutes by car.
Diana and Bill Archer. Having had hectic lives in the UK, we decided in 2004 to relocate to Spain for the sunshine and slower pace of life. We wanted to be near family in the Costa Blanca but also wanted a Spanish, rural area and when visiting the Hondon valley for the first time we fell in love with it.
Bill has had time to extend his culinery skills and now caters for some of the property guests if they require it. He is well known locally for his tasty paella's and tapas menu's and we hold authentic curry nights during the off peak season.
Our dogs are always available to accompany walks and play ball and they are probably the most photographed part of childrens holidays !
When we first visited Casa Arquero, we decided to buy the property having just walked round the extensive cavehouse, before we'd even seen our house. The cavehouse is light and airy and keeps a lovely 18 degrees so in the height of summer is wonderfully cool and a haven from the sun.
The gardens were landscaped by the previous owners and are magical, with lots of established plants and shady areas to sit and relax, eat and drink.
We had the pool built at the rear of the property to take advantage of the stunning mountain views, its a very private area and is walled and gated for safety. There is a shady gazebo and plenty of sunbeds.
Another great feature is being able to walk out of the gate and have the countryside on your doorstep, there are lots of walks available and the little village of La Canalosa is only a 10 minute walk up the lane.
The first thing most people comment on is the peace and quiet, which we now take for granted, but we also enjoy the sound of children having a great holiday.

“nice stay, could do with more humidifiers, as it got quite damp in the cave house bedrooms, excellent pool, nice and quiet area”
Owner's response: Glad you enjoyed your stay. As we mentioned it is unusually humid this year due to the amount of rainfall over the winter months, unfortunately out of our control. We have taken advice and purchased more dehumidifiers, but this is normally not a problem.

“We had a wonderful four days in Casa Arquero. The cave is beautiful. It is very comfortably furnished - a cave with sky T.V - it's more than I have at home! Diana and Bill are at hand but are not intrusive - however Bill's cooking is to be highly recommended and should not be missed. We had a wonderful evening without having to lift a finger other than to raise our glasses of Sangria. Bill's paella was worthy of a 5* restaurant. The pool area is spectacular, although we were there too early in the year to be able to use the pool. However sitting by the pool with a good book and looking at the wonderful scenery was one for the holiday memory bank. We will definitely be paying a return visit.”
