A 3 bedroom (1 double, 2 twin, all with air con) townhouse on the private development known as AmuleyMar I. Centrally located, just 5-10 minutes wander from the family friendly horseshoe beach, shops and restaurants of Caleta, AmuleyMar 1 is close to everywhere yet retains the peacefulness you look for on holiday. Also just 5 minutes drive from the Atlantico area that homes two 18 hole golf courses, a shopping centre, ten pin bowling and a cinema. Entry to the complex is via coded gate ensuring privacy is maintained.

Our house is a three storey townhouse, with a garage also available if required. The top level has a double and a twin bedroom, which share a family bathroom with bath, shower, toilet & bidet. Each bedroom comes with air-con fitted, a small balcony, bed linen and bath towels. A hairdryer is also provided, along with a safe.

The middle level provides the main entrance to the house, the living room, kitchen and doors to the patio area. The living room comes with a TV, DVD, CD and a music/books/games library for all to enjoy. The kitchen includes microwave, hob, fridge, toaster, iron/ironing board, dining table/chairs for 6 and washing machine. The lower level provides a twin bedroom (with aircon) and an ensuite shower room.

Outside the patio provides sun beds (with cushions), chairs and BBQ before leading on to the central gardens and pool. A free welcome pack is available - the basic version consists of water, milk and toilet roll but other requirements can be catered for (on request). Cot, high chairs and buggies can be hired if required. Only 15 mins from the airport.

About Costa Caleta, Fuerteventura

Costa Caleta (formerly known as Caleta de Fuste) thrives on tourism, with lots of accommodation to offer, a fantastic golden sandy beach popular for water sports enthusiasts. The tourist centre of El Castillo (the castle) stands next to the harbour and is well worth a visit.

The town of Caleta is often referred to as a holiday village. In the last few years they have done a lot of work with the beaches so as well as the huge horseshoe shaped beach, they have also created three beautiful sheltered 'lagoons' just a couple of hundred yards away - they form a pair of giant stone arms reaching out into the ocean but not quite meeting in the middle. This means that the beautifully clean Atlantic ocean refreshes the lagoons constantly, tiny fish dart amongst your toes and it feels like a lovely safe place to bathe. These are therefore also great for swimming and paddling with the children and somehow you feel incredibly bouyant - like the Dead Sea - you can just float as though sitting in an armchair. The beaches are thick soft sand (actually better than the large one) and don't get crowded either. As part of the giant 'arms' there is also a wooden boardwalk with a lovely cafe at the end on a stone island. This is a fantastic spot for a drink, meal or ice cream as you are actually 'in' the ocean with a gorgeous view back to the little town and a lovely breeze coming off the multi hued sea - truly fabulous on a hot day.

There is a multitude of good restaurants in Costa Caleta that can cater for all tastes at very reasonable prices. Steaks and Fish are particularly good, however there are also Chinese, Indian, Greek and English restaurants all within a close area. There are also a number of good supermarkets within the area.

Situated on the east coast of the island, roughly 10km south of the airport and approximately 20 minutes south of Puerto del Rosario. There is a local bus service, which runs every 30 minutes and provides air conditioned coaches for the trip. At 1 Euro (65p) it is an extremely cheap and easy way to get around. Budget car rental in Costa Caleta is available for those wishing to explore the island at their leisure.

Owner's Tips

The local sandy beach is large and family friendly with marked areas for football and volleyball, beachside cafes, camel rides and a small marina offering watersports and boat/submarine trips. Ideal place for learning any watersport including jet ski-ing, windsurfing and scuba diving. Two mini-golf courses can be found alongside the beach, along with the spa.

The Atlantico centre is worth a visit for a wander round the shops, a game of ten pin bowling or soaking up the sun on the beach in one of their lagoon style bays.

Would also recommend the Fuerteventura Golf course and the Salinas golf course for the golfers.

While Caleta has more than enough to keep everyone busy, we do also suggest hiring a car and exploring inland, through the mountains and picturesque villages - they're definitely worth a visit. Car hire also lets you visit the Natural park and dunes of Corralejo (30-40 minutes drive) and then it's waterpark at your own pace.
