With beautiful volcanic landscapes, gorgeous beaches, a vibrant nightlife and famously mild winters there are many reasons to get on a plane to Lanzarote. Lanzarote boasts Unesco Biosphere Reserve status, as an entire Island, the Charco del Palo area has certainly benefitted from this and is a peaceful underdeveloped village and surrounding area. Fifteen minutes walk from the Finca is the unspoilt coastline which is excellent for swimming and sunbathing including man made naturally filling rock swimming pools and an area where the locals feed the fish that is good for snorkelling. The area provides excellent diving and snorkelling. There is a dive school based in the village of Arrieta 10 minutes drive away. Many cycling and walking routes can be started here on which, Hubarras, Falcons and Shrikes are some of the birds that can be spotted.
Arrietta beach is 5-10 minutes drive away it is good for swimming and is an excellent and safe beach for boogie boarding and surfing it has a very safe area for younger children to start the sport. Please see photos of the surf action on our link. There are two very good restaurants the grilled sardines are delicious. The fishing village of Arrietta also has numerous excellent restaurants.
Ceasar Manrique one of Lanzarotes most famous sons has left many sites worth visiting on the Island one such site ten minutes away is Jameos Del Agua, a series of connecting caves that has a pool containing blind albino crabs, a cafe bar and restaurant and live music every Thursday.
Further afield in the north of the Island driving through beautiful countryside you can reach the Village of Haria and the valley of a thousand palms. Numerous walks can be started here and there are many excellent restaurants in and around the village square. An option whilst in this area is a rather strenuous walk down the amazing cliffs of the Risco opposite the island of Graciosa to a deserted beach enjoying the breathtaking views on the way. The island of Graciosa is also worth a visit, the purely sand surfaced roads of the main village adding to the charm of the unique island. The boat departs from the small fishing village of Orzola early in the morning.
There is internet coverage for telephones etc on the Finca.
About us
Hola!
My family arrived on the island fifty years ago from Sevilla in mainland Spain. We have worked in tourism for much of that time. My family is still based here I have two children and we welcome you to the Island of Lanzarote.
What we love about our property
The Finca gives you the chance to experience Lanzarote as it was when my family first arrived on the Island as there is very little development surrounding the land. The village by which the property is located is exceptionally unique in the extent to which the village itself is very relaxed and is located on an area of beautiful unspoilt coastline. The property has a fresh airy feel to it surrounded by unspoilt countryside and an uninterrupted seaview.
As a retreat the property is off the grid so it is run on solar power meaning the kitchen can not run kettles, microwaves and toasters, the road to the house is shared with sheperds as such you can begin to appreciate the countryside as you arrive but it is not a perfect surface.
Year we bought the property: 2008
