About Casa Ellay

Casa Ellay is an extremely comfortable 2 bedroom, semi-detached bungalow located on the golf resort, approximately 2 minutes walk from the 17th tee.

The property has been furnished in a modern style and is maintained to a high standard with improvements continually ongoing. Last year, I replaced the sunbeds and provided the highest quality cushions and parasol available in the Canary Islands. I also replaced the TV with a 32" flat screen and put in a box to enable my guests to get a full range of English TV programs through the internet including all the BBC and ITV channels. Ceiling fans have also been put up in both bedrooms and beach towels are now provided in addition to bath and hand towels.

The large living area has comfortable seating for 5 and a home entertainment centre consisting of satellite TV, DVD, VCR and hi-fi. A large selection of DVDs, CDs, videos, books and games have been provided for your enjoyment. WiFi is also now provided in the villa. The dining area has a table with chairs for 4 people.

The separate kitchen is fully equipped and includes an oven, hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee maker and juicer. The washing machine is housed in the adjoining solana.

The master bedroom has a king size bed and the 2nd bedroom has twin beds. Both bedrooms have fitted wardrobes and ceiling fans. A cot has also been provided for babies. The beautifully tiled bathroom is situated between the 2 bedrooms and is fitted with a bath with shower over, washbasin, WC and bidet.

Outside, the south facing patio, equipped with table, chairs, sunbeds and parasol enables you to enjoy the sun all day whilst being protected from the prevailing north-easterly breeze. The property is totally enclosed giving privacy and security. The communal pool is just 2 minutes walk away and there are toilets and showers at the pool area.

About Costa Caleta, Fuerteventura

Costa Caleta (formerly Caleta de Fuste)

Costa Caleta (formerly known as Caleta de Fuste) thrives on tourism, with lots of accommodation to offer, a fantastic golden sandy beach popular for water sports enthusiasts. The tourist centre of El Castillo (the castle) stands next to the harbour and is well worth a visit.

The town of Caleta is often referred to as a holiday village. In the last few years they have done a lot of work with the beaches so as well as the huge horseshoe shaped beach, they have also created three beautiful sheltered 'lagoons' just a couple of hundred yards away - they form a pair of giant stone arms reaching out into the ocean but not quite meeting in the middle. This means that the beautifully clean Atlantic ocean refreshes the lagoons constantly, tiny fish dart amongst your toes and it feels like a lovely safe place to bathe. These are therefore also great for swimming and paddling with the children and somehow you feel incredibly bouyant - like the Dead Sea - you can just float as though sitting in an armchair. The beaches are thick soft sand (actually better than the large one) and don't get crowded either. As part of the giant 'arms' there is also a wooden boardwalk with a lovely cafe at the end on a stone island. This is a fantastic spot for a drink, meal or ice cream as you are actually 'in' the ocean with a gorgeous view back to the little town and a lovely breeze coming off the multi hued sea - truly fabulous on a hot day.

There is a multitude of good restaurants in Costa Caleta that can cater for all tastes at very reasonable prices. Steaks and Fish are particularly good, however there are also Chinese, Indian, Greek and English restaurants all within a close area. There are also a number of good supermarkets within the area.

Situated on the east coast of the island, roughly 10km south of the airport and approximately 20 minutes south of Puerto del Rosario. There is a local bus service, which runs every 30 minutes and provides air conditioned coaches for the trip. At 1 Euro (65p) it is an extremely cheap and easy way to get around. Budget car rental in Costa Caleta is available for those wishing to explore the island at their leisure.

Owner's Tips

The local shopping mall, Centro Atlantico, is a 10 minute walk away and has a large supermarket , various other shops, bars and restaurants. The beaches (very safe for children) are just the other side of the mall.

Should you not wish to hire a car, my advice is to do one large shop load (i.e. drinks and other heavy items) and take a taxi back leaving the lighter perishable items (e.g. bread and meat) for day to day shopping.

A taxi to the main resort of Caleta de Fuste where the night life is costs just 4€.

“My daughter, grandson and I stayed for 1 week at Casa Ellay.

The bungalow was very clean and offered comfortable accommodation for the week.

The communal pool was enjoyable and the lovely clean beach was about a 10 minute walk away.

The owner allowed us to stay at the bungalow until our flight which was much appreciated.

We felt that a car would have been useful as we needed to rely on taxis (daughter 6 months pregnant). Also needed as the walk back to the bungalow late at night was fairly dark.

We had a great time and would book the bungalow again for a quiet and get away from it all break. Most evening entertainment is in Caleta and there is not much in the local vicinity. Also a lot of the surrounding bungalows appeared to be empty.”
