About Jaèn, Inland Andalucia

Sitting at the foot of the Santa Catalina hill is the city of Jaén, steeping in history it was once known as “Geen” by the Moors. Divided into three districts, La Magdalena, Santa Maria and San Juan each with their own feel and different things to offer. The main attraction in Jaén is the impressive 16th century cathedral; it displays the most extraordinary example of Renaissance architecture in Andalucia. Other sights include the Moorish Bath’s (Baños Arabes), which are in the basement of the 16th century palace (Palacio de Villadompardo). These baths were once belonged to Ali, a Moorish king of Jaén from the 11th century.
