Las Palmas is a busy, bustling city with friendly local people who are proud of their island and its surroundings. For lovers of water sports, the resorts area of Maspalomas in the southeastern part of the island is the place to visit.
Gran Canaria is well known for holding a variety of festivals throughout the year, the annual carnival is generally held in February, following that is a plentiful amount of Fiesta's and musical events, including the International Festival of Ballet and the Spanish Light Opera.
